This Grade II listed Italianate Grecian villa near Regent’s Park is a 4,400 sq/ft, four-story heritage home built circa 1830. With its iconic stucco facade, the property is recognised for its national importance and protected from significant alteration. This project marked KHD’s first Grade II listed renovation, offering a unique opportunity to balance preservation with thoughtful modernisation.

Our approach focused on honouring the home’s heritage; the staircase was carefully restored to its original grandeur, and existing mouldings, skirting boards, and cornices were cast and replicated for areas beyond repair, to maintain historical consistency. Modern installations that were incongruous with the home’s period were replaced with fixtures more in keeping with its 19th-century character, ensuring the villa’s timeless elegance was preserved.

We always strive to honour the architecture of a property, ensuring that the interiors feel intrinsically connected to the overall design of the building. For this project, we embraced a traditional approach to complement the character of the home whilst modernising it to accommodate the needs of a young, growing family. To achieve this balance, we incorporated a mix of vintage pieces that bring a sense of old world charm, juxtaposed with contemporary, made to order, and bespoke furniture. This blend creates a layered and timeless aesthetic that feels both rooted in tradition and tailored to modern living. Every detail was considered to ensure the interiors felt authentic, functional, and deeply personal to the family’s lifestyle.
